What I can already do
No single ability is required at the start: singing, a sense of rhythm, movement, making up words, even drawing — all of these are already musical skills. It is more useful to list with the child what they can already do and begin from the strongest item than to look for talent. Pitch and rhythm develop with practice in the large majority of children.
