Recording on a phone
A phone recording is enough for the first year if you do four things: switch off anything that hums, hang a blanket behind the child, hold the phone about 30 cm away and slightly off to the side of their mouth, and record three takes in a row. The third take is almost always the best. Neither a microphone nor a studio changes much at this stage.
