Artist career
A music career without a budget
Possible, just slower. Without a budget the only thing out of reach is paid advertising — everything else costs time: editorial pitching is free, radio and media submissions are free, an artist page is free, a fan list is free. What you do pay for is distributing the release and any work you do not do yourself.
All questionsFree and effective
- The Spotify for Artists pitch — the only free route to editors.
- Radio and media submissions, if your materials are ready.
- One page holding every link.
- An email list instead of paid reach.
Where the first money should go
- Mixing and mastering, then artwork. Ads come last: they amplify something that already works and rescue nothing.
What you can do with no money at all
- In ORPL the artist site, press kit, fan list with email, brand, release plan, content plan, analytics, fifty lessons, and cover and copy generation are available without payment. You only pay to distribute a release, and for promotion when you need it.
In short
- When do ads make sense? Once you can see who responds to the track. Ads scale an existing response; they do not create one.
- Can I release for free? Distribution costs money almost everywhere. Preparation, pitching, and audience work stay free.
